Services Available

Short-term Case Management
Any resident in an emergency situation will meet with a caseworker. Specific needs are addressed and appropriate referrals are made to state and local agencies.
Applications for:
Aid for Depended Children (AFDC), Healthcare for Uninsured Kids and Youth (HUSKY), Medical Insurance for Single Adults or Stated Assisted General Assistance (SAGA) and Connecticut Pharmaceutical Assistance Contract to the Elderly and Disabled. (CONNPACE.)
Food Bank
Families and individualsin need are referred to Christ & The Epiphany Church Emergency Food Bank. Holiday food baskets are offered at Thanksgiving and Christmas. A "Toy’s for Children" program is available at Christmas thru the East Haven Fire Department.
Emergency Shelter
Referrals are made to New Haven Shelters and to East Haven Housing Authority. Funds are available for home renovations and weatherization projects.
Energy Assistance
Community Action Agency (CAA) provides heat only for residents meeting federal income guidelines from October 1st though March.
Operation Fuel a local fuel bank provides emergency heat and utility assistance from December 1st through May 31st.
Employment Assistance
The Community Employment Incentive Program (CEIP) provides funding to residents of East Haven and surrounding towns for job search assistance. This program teaches people how to write resumes and cover letters and develop interviewing and networking skills.
Homeowner’s Tax Relief Program
Available to elderly (65+) and totally disabled homeowners who meet income guidelines. Application period is February 1st through May 15th.
Renter’s Rebate Program
Available to elderly (65+) and totally disabled renters who meet income guidelines. Application period is May 15th through September 15th.
Senior Center Services
The Senior Center Program offers information and support services to elderly residents.
Transportation for 60-year olds and handicapped residents for medical purposes, shopping and banking.
Recreational field trips.
Senior exercise programs.
Meals On Wheels program.
Senior Drivers’ Improvement Education program.
Help with income tax forms.
Monthly newsletter "Seniors On The Move".
Elderly Outreach
Provides services to frail and homebound residents.
"Lighthouse Keeping & Company" is a program to assist the frail elderly with light housekeeping. Qualified residents must be at least 60 years old and limited in activites of daily life.
Family contacts and caregivers support provided.
Home-site visits.
Referrals to senior housing, nursing home facilities, and assisted living and congregate housing sites.
Information about home health agencies.
