Urban Renewal Commission meets the first Wednesday of every month
at 7:30 p.m. in the Mario Giaimo Conference Room, Lower Level, Town Hall.

Town of East Haven Supports Fair Housing

If you or someone you know feels they have been a victim of housing discrimination please contact the Fair Housing Officer, Sarah Morrill at 203-468-3286 or email Sarah Morrill to lodge a complaint for possible investigation. You may remain anonymous and any information discussed will remain confidential. East Haven has a Fair Housing Commission that meets on an as needed basis to hear cases. For more information on rules, laws and regulations regarding fair housing you may visit: Connecticut Fair Housing Center or Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities.

The Urban Renewal Agency reports to the Urban Renewal Commission. The Community Development Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Administration and Management and the Urban Renewal Commission.

Responsibilities of the Community Development Coordinator:

• Maintains the Small Cities Block Grant Housing Rehabilitation Program.
• Coordinates with various community agencies in outreach activities and development.
• Has organized Economic Development Forums, College Info Nights, Dialogue projects, and National organization’s fundraisers including; United Way, American Heart Association, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Food drives and School supply drives.
• Is active with the East Haven Chamber of Commerce and the Shoreline Chambers Government Relations Committee.
• The Coordinator’s additional duties and membership responsibilites:
• Hearing Officer for the East Haven Housing Authority
• Municipal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator
• Notary Public
• Community Mediation Police Citizen’s Relations Council
• Connecticut Chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, Housing and Legislative Committee
• Connecticut Conference of Municipalities Committee on Land Use, Housing and Community Development
• Fair Housing Association of Connecticut
