Mission Statement
The East Haven Youth Service Bureau is a component of East Haven Counseling and Community Services. It is charged with the development and delivery of a range of services for the young people of East Haven and their families. The YSB exists to foster the healthy development of the children of East Haven and their families through creative programs that offer prevention, youth development, education and community coordination.

- Teen Center Program:
- At the Old High School (See dates below).
- Adult chaperoned events for Middle School teens.
- Teen opportunity to socialize in a safe, structured environment.
- Pool, ping pong, table soccer, air hockey and video games.
- Pizza subs, soda, juice, and a DJ for music and more are provided.

- Middle School Teen Corner event dates thru May 2008:
4/4, 4/11, 4/25, 5/16 and End of Year Cookout date TBA.
- Teen Job Bank Program:
- A job listing service available to East Haven youth, 12-18.
- Interested youth fill out an application and are interviewed.
- Job Bank members are linked with residents who request jobs to be done for pay such as babysitting, yard work or housecleaning.

- Youth Leadership Training Program begining April 21st:
- The Town of East Haven Youth Service Bureau is pleased to once again partner with the Joseph Melillo Middle School to offer middle school students the opportunity to participate in a leadership training program.
- The program will feature skill building in the areas of communication skills, problem solving, group dynamics, teamwork and self-esteem.
- The program will include three (3) sessions in town and one (1) session at the Cheshire Academy Challenge course.

- Parent Education Programs.
- The Developing Capable People Program provides a powerful model of human empowerment for youth and adults. As a result of this course participants will learn effective concepts, methods and techniques focusing on capability, self-discipline, communication, responsibility and values.
- Information on classes begining April 23rd.
- American Red Cross Babysitting and First Aid programs.
- Designed for 11-15 year olds, the Babysitter Training Course can help you: interview for a babysitting job; choose safe and age-appropriate toys and games; perform first aid; learn diapering and feeding techniques; handle bedtime issues and learn skills for having a safe babysitting experience.
- East Haven Early Childhood Collaborative:
- Our mission ensure that from birth, East Haven children have the opportunity to participate in meaningful, high quality early childhood experiences.
- Increasing community awareness regarding the importance of all children having the chance to enter kindergarten well prepared to learn.
- Collaborative initiatives include People Empowering People Leadership Training, transition to kindergarten planning and dialogues between public schools and early education providers.
- The Youth Service Bureau Coordinator serves as the Municipal Agent for
Children and on the following boards and commissions:
- CCM Children, Youth and Families Task Force
- CT Coalition to Stop Underage Drinking
- CT Safe Schools and Communities
- Connecticut Youth Services Association
- Fall Festival Planning Committee
- Town Juvenile Review Board.
